Birth of a Cynic

Why did this have to happen to me today? I entered a crowded room with a screaming woman and bloodied men. They surrounded her, all wearing masks. All eyes turned towards me as they effortlessly dragged be across the room, tossing me into an unroofed cage. I screamed all the while, tears running down my face, drenched in blood. I was powerless in my darkened cage. I couldn’t see, I couldn’t think, I couldn’t even speak. My memory quickly faded, for all is forgotten, except that the woman is now a mother.
