The Fly and the Spider

By

Donald Harry Roberts

“Where am I? asked the fly, feeling ill and swooned.

Said the spider “You are in my silken pantry lovely little fly.”

And the fly asked lethargically, “Why am I so sleepy?”

“Because I gave you a kiss.” Whispered the spider.

“Why can’t I move?” asked the fly.

Answered the spider, “Because I have wrapped you in a silken blanket.”

And the fly, with its last word asked, “Why?”

“For one creature to feast and live, another must die.”
