Sometimes we don't realize how badly we're being hurt by the people who are supposed to love us. A look within manipulation.

I can't watch TV at night

Or sing a song out loud

I can't hum to myself

Or have an opinion of my own

I can't choose whats on the radio

Or go out with my friends alone

I can't talk about politics or religion

Or about how I have to walk on my tippy toes

I can't disagree with anything you say

Or originate my own ideas

I can't make a joke or be silly or play

Or tell you how much you hurt me today

I can't show you the bruises from the things you say

Or explain how lost I feel each and every day

I can't do anything the correct way

Or owe you an explanation for why I didn't stay

Very well said. It's like trying to navigate your way around a minefield. I especially liked the first line of the final verse. Words can hurt so badly yet don't leave a visible mark.
