When we met,
I didn’t expect to let down my walls so easily.
For the last two years,
I guarded my heart with dear life,
and healed the fears I swore I was over
until they all came back that night
when you held me
and actually meant it.
Maybe deep down,
I knew it wouldn’t last.
It wasn’t mean to.
I wasn't your type,
and I knew that.
And though I came to you broken,
you made me feel like for once,
I was enough in that moment.
Perhaps you leaving, marked the ending to a cycle from the past,
of chasing what I’d never have.
And now I know,
that I never lacked anything but my own love,
that was patiently waiting with open arms,
embracing me like I had never left.
