Film Review by Allen Henriquez

The Stranger (2020)

(Television Series on Netflix)

From Harlan Coben’s novel The Stranger

Cast: Richard Armitage, Siobhan Finneran, Stephen Rea

The Stranger is a young woman, who at a soccer event, reveals to a man secrets about his wife that changes his life forever.

The Stranger, with the help of an assistant, travels about the community revealing hidden secrets, and ugly truths. However, the truth revealed can and does, in this television series, cause: deep anger, a great upheaval in the lives of the characters, along with violence and death.

This English village with its bucolic countryside, and its quaint shops and homes, makes the transition of these intelligent citizens into panicked individuals, is quite striking. The Stranger rips into the community after the first secret is exposed and begins to demand payment, with blackmail as her key point of interest.

I can say for myself that my intent was to watch the first episode then check back on a regular basis, but it was a challenge to not see the next story development.
