You knew everything about me

I took out my road map and expalined to you every crash and collision

You knew what paths I was too afraid to drive by again

At first you'd take the long way every time

You made sure I knew where we were going

Slowly but surely you stopped taking the time

You didn't want to take the longer path

You wanted shortcuts

You drove by them knowing how it affected me

Knowing that everytime you pass an X marked off on my map that it took a piece of me

Or maybe you didn't

Maybe you were at the point where you forgot

You forgot how it took me to get where I am

How I survived everything thrown in my path

Maybe you assumed I'd survive this too

But all those pieces you took from me

You didn't give back

You scattered them

Without a care

It took years to find them

For me to become whole

For me to return to being me

You took those pieces and didn't realize you were changing me

Making me into someone I didn't recognize

Yet here I stand like a piece of China put back together

You can see every crack and every piece you broke

I added new X's to my map

For when the next one comes along

But why keep this map

Why should I allow and explanation, a justification

To why I can't enjoy things I used to

Cause your name, your damn memory is attached

If I could find all of my pieces and put myself back together

I can remove you from the story I tell

I can remove the piece of me that you wrote your name on

I can be free
