This poem contains lyrics from a song I wrote about a punishment that was in my old school. If I could go back to that school I would but I can't so in memory of all the good times, I wrote this song. Now you might be thinking, 'Why write a song about a punishment.' Because it was something me and all my year group went through weekly/monthly and something that changed us from boys to young men. Before reading this you must know that this poem does have our school slang, so before the poem, I have written out all the words you need to know. If Peterhouse does see this then I'd like to give thanks to them.

Bootcamp - A punishment given out by teachers for inappropriate behaviour or breakage of school rules. This punishment entails, waking up half an hour early than normal at 04.30, getting dressed in P.E kit and going down to the 1st team rugby field. Normally you would get a Bootcamp for walking on the 1st team rugby field's grass but this is the one occasion. From then you are met by a teacher or member of staff, checked on the register and forced to do an hour of hard work and exercises in which you are literally dripping in sweat when you come back. So you have to take a shower.

Popin - This is just a slang word for the action of doing. So if I say, I'm popin squat, it just means I'm doing squats

Hit it - This is basically the same. So if I say, I don't wanna hit it, it just means I don't want to do it.

Tic tac toe - In this song, it just means over and over again a lot.

Buly Deez - Buly is spelt right because it's supposed to sound like the 'u' in bulb. So this was the nickname we gave to our South African science teacher who was so strict and just gave out Bootcamps like they were birthday presents.

When it says, "When I check my name." This is referring back to when I would be looking at the notice board to see if I was on Bootcamp.

The rest is fairly simple but still covered in slang you probably don't understand. If you're still lost after reading it, I then recommend going over these again.

Bootcamp

Wake up in the morning, I got Bootcamp on my mind.

I don't wanna hit it cause I do this all the time.

I be popin squats till all night long.

And I get another one if I do it wrong.

I be running laps like tic tac toe.

Buly Deez be laughing like ho ho ho.

Trying to cut corners but they say no no.

When they catch me, they shout 'hey you.'

Why you cutting corners. I don't know?

When I check my name I be like oh no.

Look over at my friends, Ha you!

Why you on Bootcamp? I don't know?

I be excusing my way out!

Trying to think of a way to say, hey Nah

My name is spelt with an 'O' Yah!

But yet I still end up going, Oh why?

Cause from then, I be popin Bootcamp till all night!
