Budding Twins

A single stem

branches,

splits

in two,

and both new stems

grow together

until the buds

form,

begin to open

and show those petals,

still folded.

Yellow as the sun,

red as anger,

as passion

orange as flames

or blushes of pink -

that’s the promise

those petals

bring.

The choice;

snip and sacrifice,

leaving one to flourish

at the expense

of the other;

or leave them be,

let them find their way

to bloom

in balance

with each other.

Leave them be... a very colourful and unusual poem, made me feel quite protective towards them. Nice one, Hully.
