I lie in bed at night

And imagine that I can feel

A warm body next to my own.

His arm tucks around my stomach,

Fingers brushing the small piece of skin

Exposed.

He rests his forehead against the back of my neck -

The little puff of air as

He breaths tickles.

I sling my arm across

The warm expanse of his back

And hold him close.

Fingertips dance, featherlight,

Across my shoulders

And bury themselves in my hair.

My hand is caught

And he holds on

As we drift

Into oblivion.
