The mystery of Tuo leaves the public in dismay, and criminals in a pool of their own blood. This short story (two pages) aims to display creative and quick works of writing that spark ideas and show just how much information you can produce if given the correct criteria.

No one knew where he came from. No one knew why he did what he did. All they knew was that he was the most dangerous person in Brazil. He wasn’t hostile; he never killed without reason. He chose his victims carefully and strategically, striking at the perfect time and leaving them to die with their sins. Word spread quickly and the hunt for him began. Months and months went by of the world’s most vicious gangs and criminals turning the favelas upside down looking for the person responsible for this devastation to their organizations. It didn’t work. In fact, it backfired. He killed them all. He wasn’t easily spotted, but those who did never gave him up out of fear of what would happen to them. The deep scars covering his body sent shivers down anyone who looked his way. His stone-cold grasp of reality further enhanced his story of monstrosity, but he was different, however. He fought for a code. A code of humanity. His name was Tuo, and if he caught onto your trail, legend says you wouldn’t see the next sunrise. Regardless of what the media publicized, he wasn’t the monster everyone thought him to be. He didn’t lay a finger on the innocent, never so much as getting in their way on the sidewalk. Tuo went after the monsters of the world; the scum of the planet that don’t deserve to live. The people we all dream of removing from our lives when we think of making the world a better place. Tuo provided that for us. He was the monster hunter. The monster of all monsters. And the scariest, most frightening thing about him was that he killed with only two strikes.

All he needed was space for two strikes. Never before had the world seen such precision and speed from a human, if he even was human. Every one of Tuo’s victims had the same corpse, a bruised right cheek and a slit throat. It wasn’t hard to find the bodies, either. He didn’t go to any great lengths to dispose of his victims, he let the people see his handy work. Over time, he became a superhero. There were movies made, stories written, comic books sold across the country. The tale of the devil that hunts the murderers, rapists and child molesters. The crime rate dropped significantly. Brazil had never seen such a dramatic descent in organized crime and gang affiliations. Tuo took care of them all. That is, until he started killing at random.

Random to the public, let’s be clear. His strict code of ethics prohibited him from harming the innocent, but why would he? Investigators and detectives probed and searched far and wide to make sense of his killings and explain why he went after those people. After all, they were not known to be criminals or be charged with any violent history. A manhunt ensued for the capture of this now-framed villain. And, as if God himself had protected Tuo with all His might, he was never found; but the bodies kept showing up. Weeks and weeks of mysterious people showing up dead with the same markings as all the previous corpses. Eventually, they cracked the case.

There was a body found in the river and when inspected, had traces of children’s blood and feces all over. The person wasn’t necessarily a killer, but the evidence was all there. Tuo had a gift, a gift of finding the evil. Wherever evil lurked, Tuo was there to kill it. Eventually, there was no one left to kill. Weeks went by without another body and no one had reported seeing him, not that anyone would give him up of course. Then, after three months, a body was found in Argentina. The same two significant markings with the same history as before. While history does indeed always repeat itself, there are times where it repeats itself in a more diabolical way.

In every victim, Tuo carved a “||” into their forehead. Word spread throughout Argentina. People felt more at ease, knowing the evil cretans that lived among them would be slowly picked out, one by one, and given the punishment they truly deserve. He lives among us, watching, scoping out evil and waiting for the right time to strike. His purpose on this planet is unknown, but it is safe to assume his annihilation of evil is underway and gaining speed. He won’t stop until every single evil being is eradicated by his hand. Once his mission has come to a close, he will take rest and embark in an eternal slumber. This is the story of Tuo.
