Those Animal Eyes.

Look into those eyes;

deep brown pools

trying to make some sense

of what they see.

They’ll be threatened

should they sense fear,

but will relax

with acceptance,

with tolerance,

with love,

and will reflect

what they do see.

Who would think

those eyes can show

such empathy,

such compassion?

They’ll try their hardest

to relieve any sadness,

will comfort grief,

will say:

“You’re not alone.”

The eyes of people

can be hard to meet,

boring in and intruding;

intimidating,

showing scorn,

superiority,

dismissal

and an inability to even try

to understand.

My eyes will seek out

canine eyes,

feline eyes,

animal eyes

for they accept

what you display

and don’t try to deceive

or betray.

Very true. Only humans have shifty eyes.

Yep, there's no doubt about it, our pets listen better than most people, even if the probably don't understand a fricking word we say, other than 'food' , Hull, excellent!
