her pain wasn't made for this world.

Away From Home

She sits on the front porch step with his words wrapped around her neck.

Her fingers fight to get a grip.

Pain lacing its way through her brain.

Finding her heart and ripping it apart.

His hands swing out like a baseball bat.

Clipping her jaw.

Making her spin.

Hot tears stall on her bloody cheek.

The devil coming up through her feet.

He claims her brain from the pain.

A dangerous calm coming over her.

Eyes like ice.

She looks up into the face she used to say “I love you” to.

Anger simmers on her skin.

She feels her devil's hands wrap around her neck and rip away his hateful words.

Turning them into daggers.

He places them in her hands and she feels the smile on her face.

Cracking her lips and making them bleed.

Making her devil’s heart break.

Those daggers fly out of her mouth in the form of words.

Psycho babble that breaks apart her ex-lovers brain.

Leaving him a physical mess of a man.

A sad boy.

A ball of mental pain.

Her pain made her into napalm.

Destroying the world around her.

Blacken everything that once was green.

Killing things that once had to breath.

The devil steps up and takes her into a hug.

Hot breath and deep baritone.

“Don’t worry, I'm bringing you home.”
