a loss of sensibility
The numb after a cry settles in her chest
and fills her mind with static—
a fracture into the laced composure—
which reminds her of who she is,
who she isn’t,
or whether she knows at all.
Chaos can venture amongst the quiet.
Always the one to kill the silence before
her truth can whisper through a crack,
she lies between a craved smile and the numb.
