BURLESQUE

Show or tell?

You never know what’s beneath the hat, or stuffed into secret suitcase panel. A price to pay for golden beams streaming in, intangible but pronged fast. Footsteps echo. A train wheezes into the station. Stationary. Pronged fast, a price to pay for golden beams, golden handshakes, dodgy deals, shackled to the suit, to the dangerous suitcase.

This’ll be the last one. But he’s not convinced.

Train leaves in ten.

You never know what’s beneath the hat, that’s the problem. She wants him to show her. He is, but he isn’t. A slow reveal. The ever secretive male. A missive from quivering shadows written by strangers’ footfalls.

She wants him to show her. Maybe then everything won’t be so black and white.
