Trust Issues
I’m going to be quite honest here and admit
that I have serious issues with trust.
I don’t do it -
it’s as simple as that.
Except sometimes, once in a million moons,
isolation, loneliness
drives all sense of reason from my mind
and I do.
Once it was said of me:
‘Child’s mind in a body mature’ -
was that the truth?
I’m really not sure.
But when I do find someone I feel I can trust,
I don’t hold back
but give one hundred percent
and this is an issue
that leads to torment.
No one else is quite so gullible as me;
I need to get to grips with my naivety
and keep my feet on the ground,
not get carried away.
You see words once said
can’t be withdrawn
and are sharp like a blade
or a lethal thorn.
I wish, oh I wish that I’d simply learn
but instead
for your trust I’ll simply yearn.

Trust no-one, I say. No man is an island, except me of course.
Sun, May 17th, 2020 10:45pmI must say, the older I get the more cynical I've become, especially with social media, and fake news, its the age of pretence. If you distrust people, then you avoid disappointment... that's my logic!
