Many dreamed of freedom from the death camps. Tragically, for many it remained a dream.

After months of terror,

Her freedom at last came.

Freedom from the horror

That was Auschwitz in name.

"Could it finally be?"

She whispered to herself.

"Are we finally free

From Hell on Earth itself?"

Last thing she remembered

Was running through the gate.

The same gate she'd entered

To meet an awful fate.

She was woken by the screams

Of people being shot, one by one.

She cried in despair, as it seemed

That the hope of freedom was now gone.
