Wuhan Casserole

A Chinaman was hungry for a bat, cat, dog or rat,

but his dinner was the parcel in which a deadly illness sat.

A tiny piece of DNA that caused the world to woe

was added to his casserole and soon began to grow.

He shared it with his neighbours by coughing or a sneeze

and Wuhan caught the fever and they all began to wheeze.

It wasn't long before the misery departed overseas

to spread amongst the foreigners and bring them to their knees.

It brought a reign of sickness to Italy and Spain

and in England and the USA it caused a lot of pain.

Some people died and others cried for their economy,

who put their faith in government and new technology.

Lockdowns and restrictions are the order of the day,

but can social isolation make the menace go away?

The total world-wide death toll is now way beyond control,

whose numbers are the backwash of a Wuhan casserole.
