Had The...?

Had the night ever been so dark?

Had the stars ever been so bright?

Had the urge ever been so strong

to yield and give up the fight?

Had the air ever been so still?

Had the spell ever been so right?

Had the enchantment been so potent

as it was when the moon was slight?

Had my mid ever been so free?

Had my eyes ever held such sight?

Had the spark ever been so toxic

that a blaze it did soon ignite.

Had the woods ever been so mute?

Had life ever seemed so trite?

Had I walked on the edge of oblivion

as I did on that darkest night?

88 fingers

You dug deep within yourself to come up with this poem. Very well written.

Honestly, 88, I was so depressed when I wrote this one. Thanks for giving it a read.
