just a little poem I wrote. I felt like this works as a way to get across something I've been thinking about. People often seem to discount either their own or others feelings by saying "other people have it worse" and while that is true, it is no reason not to feel your feelings. Someone is always going to have it worse, and then there will be one person who has it worst of all and they are not the only person who is allowed to feel sad.

I have a stomach ache.

You have a stomach ache?

My sisters best friend just moved halfway across the world.

She has it worse.

Her friend moved countries?

I don’t have friends to talk with.

I have it worse.

You’re lonely?

The people next door are grieving their dead cat.

They have it worse.

Their cat died?

A girl in my class struggles with anorexia nervosa.

She has it worse.

She’s Anorexic?

My mum was diagnosed with cancer last week.

We have it worse.

She has cancer?

At least she has access to treatment, some people don’t have that luxury.

They have it worse.

They lack treatment?

The children in Africa are starving.

They have it worse.

They are starving?

There are people living in war zones in Syria with no escape.

They have it worse.

Someone always has it worse.

Pain is pain.

Trauma is trauma.

You deserve to get the help you need.
