All lives matter?

Black lives matter.
I keep getting sadder
at all this nonsense chatter,
everyone is singing the exact same song
debating online about which opinion is right and which is wrong,
but at the end of the day,
only one opinion is right,
that this is not okay and nothing is alright,
because innocent people
are caught in this fight,
and people are more concerned
with destruction, vandalism, and fire
than the loss of lives,
than a situation more dire,
than a world where people still aren’t truly free
despite centuries of efforts and promises of glee.
If you disagree, consider changing your view,
start talking, start acting, start seeing the truth,
because it disgusts me,
and it should disgust you.
We are living in horrifically scary times.
We are stuck in quarantine,
loved ones are dying,
we are praying for change,
we are watching riots,
watching protests,
watching death,
watching murder.
Don’t be silent. Let your voice come through.
Donate. Sign. Speak. Change the world - it starts with you.

Well said! The news grieved me more than anything else. The injustice, the racism, the police brutality, the lootings, the irresponsibility of the leadership, the ignorance, and the insanity, of the people in dealing with things....Can we ever learned?

Christy Writes

With so much injustice and cruelty, it's only normal for patience to run its course. Public property is never and will never be more important than human life. People can burn down a thousand buildings if that will lead to positive change. And if it won't, they have the right to reclaim what's theirs and express their rightful anger. Racism is only profitable to those who want to keep an age old system built on discrimination standing. There's no way to predict how things will turn out, but I'm with you and most of the world is, I'm sure. If the system won't change, then society definitely will.

or society can push to change the system! the collective voice of society is a stronger force than i think many of us realize, so with hundreds of thousands of people constantly vocalizing ideas like BLM, ACAB, and defunding the police all around the world, i think we're sending a message to the people with the power to actually change the system.

Melancholic Wisdom

I'm glad you posted this, Harry. As mixed race (black and white), this is definitely a horrifying time. This type of shit that's going on shouldn't be happening, it should be a distant memory that my mother (56 years old) tells me about, not something that I see and experience with my own eyes. Now more than ever this topic has to have attention and action behind it. Thank you for writing this Harry

of course, friend. thank you for commenting and sharing. this is a battle that has been fought for not just decades, but for centuries, and it still hasn't been won. the little progress we've made is disgusting and shameful and it's heartbreaking that innocent lives had to die and continue to die in order for an impactful change to begin to be made.
