Night and Darkness are not the same entity...

Night

"For the night is dark and full of terrors"
You must have heard that line by now
Night is a nocturnal creature
It lives and breathes in the dark
For Night and darkness are not one and the same
Darkness is only the absence of light
But Night...

Night is a creature that lives in the mind's realm
Close your eyes and it will try to find you
Lurking, waiting, planning, scheming
Grinning at the thought of what it's about to do to you
Night knows your secrets
It whispers them in your ear as you try to sleep
Every fear, every failure, every worry you've ever had
A form of torture for the enemies in your personal war

Night has power over time and reality
Distorting, twisting, strangling your truth
There is only one solution for Night's destructive ways
Refuse to fight
Like a Chinese finger trap, go against your instinct to pull away
Let it sit on its throne and roar out its threats
Ultimately, its voice becomes monotonous
Lulling you to sleep

I liked that it makes allusion to one of the phrases used in game of thrones "for the night is dark and full of terrors" one of my favorite shows!
It also would be a more richer poem, but I felt it was pretty good, I liked the simile she used "like a Chinese finger trap, go against your instinct to pull away" I think it was very clever.
The mood/atmosphere was mysterious, dark and the imagery she gave about the night "night knows your secrets, it whispers them in your ear as you try to sleep" and then the personification she gave to the night "night is a nocturnal creature, it lives and breathes in the dark" and "close your eyes and it will try to find you, lurking, waiting, planning, scheming, grinning at the thought of what is about to do to you" I enjoyed a lot reading this poem!
