When winter gives one last major storm before giving way to spring

One Last Campaign

The Beast breathed its firn onto the world below
When it should have bowed out ages ago

It fended off all moot expectation
Hemorrhaging fury and indignation

It plowed forward with icy and desperate authority
Though the evidence showed its inferiority

It saw that its life force would soon be curtailed
The rebirth of an ancient leader unveiled

But the Beast was tenacious in its dogged pursuit
It lashed out in wild throes of dispute

One more crusade, one last campaign
Until the Beast named Winter Wind was finally slain
