Get ready-it's begun in earnest

Yesterday, heard about an example of how nasty the upcoming election's going to get; some supporters of Trump are taking a page from their hero's playbook, accuse his opponent of the lowest, most disgusting vile behavior with not a shred of proof, repeat it endlessly, and it becomes fact. Such is the power of some right-wing media outlets. Remember last election when the prime example was that Hillary Clinton was running a child-sex ring out of a pizza parlor? Ludicrous, yes, but some Trump's allies actually believed it and repeated it as fact. This time around it's Don Jr. calling Joe Biden a pedophile, with absolutely no proof.

Some rabid believers in Trump, or rabid Republicans, so want Trump reelected they're willing to believe the most disgusting rumor if it will help him win. This is an example of how dirty an election we can look forward to, at least on the Trump side. Make them respond to the most vicious rumor, and distract from your own record. So, make some popcorn, sit back, and enjoy the shit-show.

Politics, and more particularly 'politicians', are kind of dirty words these days, Mike. And not just in the US either.

Ms. Barnacle: it's definitely hard to know how to react. On one hand, you want to believe the women. That makes absolute sense. But you don't want to ruin the man's life, because "innocent until proven guilty" is a true and important moral. I don't think Kavanaugh is guilty after all that work against him, and while Joe Biden gives me the creeps, maybe he hasn't gone that extreme.

Anyways, Mike, I'm not here to disable your opinion. I respect that you say what you want. Although, I would like to add one thing to Barnacle's point, above. You see, there clearly is a divide when it comes to right and left-wing media. When left-wing news, celebrities, politicians speak, they're allowed to say anything. ANYTHING. Celebrities have called right-leaning people cultists, and told them to drink bleach, told them to leave the country or kill themselves. It's encouraged and cheered...A right-winger speaks, and it's the end of the world. The slightest stutter could bring them ridicule, hate, and consequences. Nobody stands up for them, either. I mean, if you will, look up Tulsi Gabbard and her case against Google. I think you'll find it interesting.

Regardless, I'm not trying to start a war, I want that to be clear. Just, you know, anybody who reads this and thinks I'm deplorable...prejudice is a two-way street. I want liberals and conservatives to understand each other and get along again, instead of stereotyping each other. Happy writing! :)

Hi Mike just a mischievous thought from an outsider. What if the current round of country wide ( quite justified) protests give Trump the opportunity to declare a "national emergency"; followed by army and national guard on the streets. He might say its too dangerous to have an election and stage a right wing take over. Even declare himself president for life. We in the so called free world watch with great interest the events unfolding in the U.S.A

Thanks, Peter, and the scenario you describe is exactly what I've been afraid of ever since I've seen how he operates and how brainwashed his true believers are. The things I've seen since he came to power I didn't think were possible here, so nothing he does would surprise me--just ave to hope if/when he does try something like you describe, that the military refuses to carry out his unlawful orders; if not, we're screwed
