Beautiful Tyrant

Photograph: by Andrea Piacquadio Complements of Pexels

Down the street, a man, tall, stylishly dressed
Smiles as for Colgate
Demands I meet him
Witty and attractive
He flatters, “you’re a beauty.”
He tells me his plans to travel
Show me the world.
We are living together.
Lost his job, he’s drinking; undependable
Now parties through the night
Cook, he orders!
His affection, tender ways turned
to critical.
Authoritative, violent rants
strike fear!
Jealousy causes conflict.
Should I stay or go?
I remember only a handsome,
witty man.
The man I love.
