Thunderbolt will introduce Lone Ranger - a work of autofiction. Jade is a composite based on a Geordie girl I dated for 6 years. And a close friend who passed away. I am very much an experimental writer challenging the laws of grammar. I am aware this may offend the sticklers and apologize unreservedly, on my knees, in hope of forgiveness. LET'S BEGIN . . .

Jade'd wrapped her Peugeot 205 GTI round a lamppost. the car she'd cherished was a write-off. apparently, its engine'd flung itself across the road, scattering into pieces. people're fulluv shite. said she deserved it. a miss-kree-ant, they called her. huh. most of those philistines'd clocked more ASBOs than her. someone from school days managed to find my number and told me the bad news. the wall next to me offered some much needed support. I almost couldn't see. Jade, my best mate, WAS GONE. (my paraphrasing doesn't do her justice, but I'll try:) I'LL BE GONNIN' DOON TOON TA MEET YUZ, SEE YA THEN PET. it was something she always said before we hit the streets and showed the yokels WE HAD SWAG! Jesus. four times. I failed four times to replace the receiver, knocking it against the phone. finally, the pips went dead. all my motor skills, I remember, were in shock. I still need a steadycam whenever I think of Jade. she died twenty-five years ago.

Some shocks you just can't get over, and that was a bad one. Excellent writing, Jobe.
