A story about the excitement of space travel.

Thrills of Space Travel

‘I signed up for this job because I wanted some excitement in my life,’ Dan, one of the six space explorers on an eight year mission said to Colin, the only other crew member who was awake.
‘Just be patient,’ Colin answered and yawned before he continued. ‘Yesterday we reached the halfway point. Something must be about to happen soon.’ He handed Dan a small tube of caffeine paste. ‘I joined because I always wanted to visit new places.’ He started tapping with his fingertips on the worn-out patch in the rim of the aluminium console in front of him.
Both men scanned the immense void that lay between them and the visible stars.
‘I should have gone into the entertainment industry,’ Dan said and sighed. ‘Films about our line of work only take a couple of months to shoot.’
‘I should have bought a yacht,’ Colin said and started staring at the worn patch on the console where his fingers were still tapping.

Nice piece! Your word selection are really good, that is something I am struggling with! By the way there is a typo in the title, Spave instead of Space

It's almost like you're saying space travel is ... kinda boring or summat... .

Amusingly heavy-handed! Liked it.

I can well imagine this conversation taking place. Space travel, well, it's something that is going to need an awful lot of patience.

Thanks for your feedback, Tom. I guess human beings are not meant for such long journeys. The first trip to Mars is going to show us how we can cope with it.
