Freedom or Responsibility?

Common to freedom or responsibility is often fear. Personality “dictates” the choice. Freedom is seen as an individualistic expression, whereas, taking responsibility, often means more community commitment. Both are very difficult decisions. Freedom sometimes takes the form of travel, haphazardly wandering, and isolation. Too much freedom can lead to chaos, procrastination, rather than moving on to what is more advantageous.

Responsibility is an inherent part of our religion and ethics, committing to a solution to execute what is considered “right” and “good.” Taking responsibility can give one more peace and power of decision-making but there may be a feeling of restricting one’s life.

Taking responsibility can be a source of pride, while a self-directed life can create self-loathing as an outcome. Society around often judges those who do not consider others' expectations.

God wants us to find that balance where we are truly ourselves within the realm of responsibility. What do you think?
