Jenny refuses to give up her plastic pearls she liked very much but you can't imagine what happens when she gives them up.

THE PEARLS SHE WOULD NEVER GIVE UP

Once upon a time,

There was a girl named Jenny, she was a bright eyed, pretty five-year old girl. One day she and her mother were checking out the grocery store and Jenny saw a plastic pearl necklace priced 20$.

How she wanted that necklace, when she asked her mother if she would buy it for her; her mother said "well, it is a pretty necklace but it costs an awful lot of money. I'll buy the necklace but when we get home we will make a list of chores that you can do to pay for the necklace, okay?" Jenny agreed and her mother bought the pearl necklace for her.

Jenny worked really hard on her chores everyday and soon she had paid for the pearls. How she loved her necklace, she would wear it everywhere except in the shower.

Now, Jenny had a loving Dad who would read her a favorite story before she slept.

One night when he finished the story he said, "Jenny do you love me?"

"Oh yes Dad you know I love you", the little girl said.

"Well then give me your pearls",

"Oh! Dad not my pearls" Jenny said, "but you can have my favorite doll."

"Oh no darling that's okay", her father said as he left.

A week later, her father once again asked Jenny if she loved him and she said that she did. But again she refused to give him her pearl necklace.

Several days later when Jenny's father came in to read her a story, Jenny was sitting on her bed and her lips were trembling. "Dad", she said as she held out her hand when she opened it her beloved pearl necklace was inside. She let it slip into her father's hand. With one hand her father held the plastic necklace and in the other he pulled out of his pocket a blue velvet box. Inside of the box were real, genuine and beautiful pearls. He had them all along, he was only waiting for Jenny to give up the plastic pearls so as to gives her real pearls.

It is the same with us, sometimes we refuse to give up different things and decide never to let go but that leaves no room for the better ones. Or we cling to our past selves that we refuse to let go. Imagine all the things you might have missed because of that, the good news is that it's not too late, "let go of who you were to be who you can be".
