The key theme of the story: The right person gets the right thing; nature doesn’t deprive him. We prefer to buy mostly seeing outer cover that glitters much, this is not always true. To pick the right one, we should have a good humor or sense. Arrogance brings miseries. Compassion brings inner peace, sacrifice never goes to dogs. Gratitude makes man noble. These words reflect the story.

Venice is a capitol of Italy. There was a merchant, Antonio. He owned six ships. He had an intimate friend, named Bassanio, who was a soldier. He loved a fair girl, named Portia. She was a daughter of an affluent king. Her father gave her three boxes. Among them, whoever picked the right one would be her husband. Bassanio asked for borrowing money from Antonio. He wanted to meet, basically marry the Portia. He couldn’t lend him instantly. All his money was with the ships. He sent Bassanio to an old Jew money-lender, Shylock. Shylock had a bad reputation. He always looked forward to people trapping. It was known to Antonio as well as Bassanio. That’s why Antonio hated him much and Bassanio untrusted him too.

nwillingly Both went to him. Bassanio asked for borrowing money with help of Antonio. Now it was a golden opportunity to take revenge upon his bitter enemy, Antonio, was thinking of it. He told Antonio to sign in a bond. It worked as document. There was written, like this ‘if you can’t pay the money in due time, I will cut off a pound of flesh from the nearest of your heart. Don’t worry too much, it is a fun.’ Antonio counted it fun and was confident that his ships would return within a month.

o, after signing to the bond, the sum was given to Bassanio. He along with his friend Gratiano, sailed to Belmond where Portia grew up. Before they reached there, a king of Morocco run toward Portia to marry her. She would not like him much at all. Now it was a turn to test. The king was given the three boxes made by gold, silver and plain lead. He picked the golden box. Inside the box, there were bones of skull. He said Portia “Goodbye”. After him, similarly, another came to marry her. He was also offered the same test. He selected the silver. the silver, there were some sort of ugly things.  He also failed to the right one. Then, Bassanio entered the place. Portia ordered her servant, Nerissa to bring the three boxes in front of Bassanio. He was thinking that all that glitters is not gold. So, he lifted the plain-lead box. Portia was so much happy as he lifted the true one. Inside the plain-lead box, there was a pretty beautiful picture of Portia.

hey were arranging to be married. That time, a bad news came. Jessica accompanied by Lorenzo, flew their homes and entered the place with view to letting them know about his friend Antonio whose life was at stake.  Jessica, was the daughter of the greedy Shylock, informed that her father was going to take revenge upon Antonio as he broke his promise on account of sinking down of all his ships.

earing the sad news, Bassanio turned pale, decided to go there swiftly. Portia requested him to accomplish marry, so he could pay the money as much as Shylock would demand. After marriage, he along with friend rushed toward the spot where the judgement was continuing. The Duke of Venice tried to calm the arrogant Shylock. He didn’t agree to let Antonio forgive. He was stick to take his revenge at any cost. At once, Bassanio and Gratiano were present there. Bassanio influenced the Jew to offer him ten times the sum he borrowed from him. He didn’t listen to neither the Duke nor Bassanio.

young lawyer with his clerk appeared there. The lawyer tried to pacify the unrest mind, Shylock. He was unkind to Antonio. The young judge went through the written statement. He complied with the agreement. Then Shylock began to shower praises to the judge. The judge told Antonio to be ready, and Shylock to sharpen his knife. He was approaching to Antonio to cut a pound of flesh from close to his heart. The young judge at once stopped him. And told angrily that “Have you called a doctor to prevent from bleeding?” The old money-lender said “No, it wasn’t written in the bond.” The judge stated if he did, all his possessions would be shared equally to the State and the victim. Furthermore, he would be punished to death for violating the law of Venice. Hearing the final judgement, he screamed loudly and begged Bassanio to return the sum with three times. He received upon compassion of Antonio.

got pleased for the action of young clever judge. He told him kind-heartedly to ask something as a gift of gratitude. He demanded the ring of his hand that Portia gifted him. But Bassanio refused to give it the lawyer. Antonio requested his friend to dedicate the ring. Bassanio did so for the sake of his friend. Eventually all navigated for the Belmond. After reaching there, Portia wanted to know about the ring. Antonio said, “my friend sacrificed it to save my life.” Then Portia returned the same ring to Bassanio. They all became wondered returning the ring. Finally, they disclosed themselves that they, I was the lawyer, Portia and the clerk was my servant, Nerissa.
