For The Crime Of Free-Thinking.

Gathered there together

are the like-minded,

the flicker-thinkers.

Leave thoughts on

slow burn,

where illumination hides

in the shadows that

smother

all independent thought.

But alack! Alas!

Someone dared to flare

with brighter light

and saw what was lurking

ignored

in the background.

Perhaps if those observations

had remained confined

inside his head

he would not be walking the walk

to the hangman’s noose.

For the crime of looking,

of daring to see,

of not turning a blind eye -

this enlightened thinker

is sentenced to hang by the neck

until dead.
