From Dusk to Night

I extend
a feathery paw
gently claw
the face off
the bluish sky

streak by streak
layer by layer

blood colors
of red and purple
soaking through
and the
five strips
of dripping
gold

until
she is faceless
reveals her most
inner self —

nakedly dark
drops of starring sparks

Mystical beauty —
a black diamond
I adore

I perch
at the bottom
of your feet
and purr
'I can't bear to lose you.'
