Powerless

You’ve decided to make me powerless.

A gag on my mouth

to silence my protest,

but let’s think about this...

Even if I scream,

I shout,

there’s no one that is going to hear me.

But silencing...

it’s not enough for you,

not this time -

it does not reduce my ability

to function enough.

Not for you.

Binding my wrists,

you take away my hands -

I can’t scream,

I can’t write,

but still I can run.

Can’t I?

You’re ready to go that bit further.

Will you bind my ankles?

No, you are going to paralyse me

with the use of pain.

You stab a blade through my hands

fixing them together

as though in prayer

even though you know for me

there’s no one there.

Stakes and steak knives,

a travesty of nails..

Each stab brings me down to my knees

as you proceed

in your bid to render me completely

powerless.
