The Doctor’s Wife
He awoke to Elizabeth standing next to the bed, her pale hand trembling as she drained the champagne from a wedding flute embossed with their initials. Her other hand, dusky with dark hairs above the wrist, held a hand mirror.
“You’ve made me a monster, Victor,” her smile split by the jagged scar where he had attached the two halves of her face, tears streaming from her mismatched eyes.
He grabbed her, “I couldn’t lose you, I love…” she pulled away from him, uncannily strong like the others before her, and jumped out the window, falling into the black sea.
