A simple poem about the doorway of my heart.

Come to me

Present yourself before me

Be still in me

just be

I welcome you

to move thru me

be by my side

with me

Pure white rose with painful thorns

Sweet honey bee

and following sworms

Tiny, softly buzzing fly

Tail wagging puppy dog

swooshing by

Cat

with mouse

bird

with worms

ants and fleas

bats and germs

Tearful child

angry teen

a hungry mouth and mind;

infant boy

sweet baby girl

No one is left behind

Mother; father; sister; brother

neighbor; friend; and foe

Pass thru me

day in day out

I feel you

come and go

You bring light

and peace and beauty

you bring laughter; you bring tears

Amazement; confusion

happiness and sorrow

The swing

of emotional years

Everything you are, you see

you bring thru my door

to me

Forever lives the memory of

My doorway

You

and me

Nice, beautiful poem, KatV. The rhyming was a little Dr. Seuss at one point, but evolved into a more complex piece as it went along. And that's a bonus. The over-arcing theme of the people we meet, the people we know, and the ones we never even see moving through our lives is so true and can be a strength to the character we build around us everyday.

Thank you A.K. I wrote this from a prompt. I see the Dr Seuss part and toyed with omitting it. I'm happy you appreciate the theme. Our character is built on all that comes into our lives and all the lives we come into. Thank you for taking the time to read my poem and comment on it. I appreciate that very much!
