Hiding under my unfinished manuscripts is a letter. A letter that would leak secrets by a mere tear of the adhesive. Wounding just as much if not more than the letter opener slicing a little too far past the paper.

I wrote you a letter I never sent.

I wrote you a letter I never sent,

with the moonlight to guide me

black ink draining my ballpoint pen

I wrote you a letter I never sent,

hunched over for no one to see

on my coffee-stained desk

I wrote you a letter I never sent,

stamp in hand for you to recieve

in a week or so then

I wrote you a letter I never sent,

without remorse or a plea

about the wasted time I spent

I wrote you a letter I never sent,

writing about you endlessly

in words I never meant
