None of them replied to the question of the man that wanted to shoot them. Both of them were paralyzed by fear, and thus couldn't move even an inch, let alone do something significant. They would have called for help if it was of any use, but they didn't, for it wasn't the case. Vaughan looked over to his sister, who could make a cube of ice look alive by comparison at that moment. Even though all of this felt real, he couldn't believe it. It was just that terrible.

Then, all of a sudden, he started to pull the trigger. More scared than ever, he stared at the gun, waiting for a bullet to come out of it. The shooter wasted no time. With a mischievous grin on his face, he pulled it at last, only for it to fall on the ground due to an unknown source of magic. It came from right behind Vaughan and Ariana, but they had no time to see who cast the spell that did it. The gang was still there, so they had to run.

They did not look back at all while running away from those who tried to murder them, and who couldn't follow them even if they wanted to because their anonymous saviour stalled them with magic. Vaughan knew that he and his sister had to thank that person as soon as they met them, but that wasn't what mattered the most at the moment. They needed to flee to the nearest place that would give them all the things they needed for the few days they planned to spend there, and they needed to do it as soon as possible.

Who was stalling the men who were after them, and why they were doing it, Vaughan had no idea, but it didn't matter. He thought that they would probably never meet again after this, and if they did, it wasn't very likely for them to see each other that often.

Soon, he and his sister approached the nearest place that could be their temporary sanctuary. He believed that the chances of them getting in there were very small, but they were too unwilling and desperate to go any further. It was a magnificent and tall mansion that they focused on admiring, and it wasn't their first time that they did it. The home of the King family was one of the four noble houses of the kingdom of Silverton, and as the citizens of that kingdom, they could have only missed out on that if they lived their whole life under a rock.

Not wanting to wait any longer, he started to knock on the door with his both hands as vigorously as he could, and his sister joined him only a few seconds later. They banged and banged onto that door for a while, hoping that the King family would at least acknowledge that fact, if nothing else.

Their actions made a woman who they recognized immediately open the door just as they were about to give up. She wasn't from the King family, but she was still very important. She stood out from the rest, just like her looks.

Her long and wavy hair, which was the colour of a carrot, flowed down her back perfectly. Her sea-blue eyes were so captivating that one could get lost in them. Her plump light pink lips were so fresh and juicy, like a fruit that was not bitten. Her skin was so clean, without any pimple, mole or freckle on it at all. She was an incredibly thin woman, much like a skeleton, but the long white dress with glitters that she was wearing distracted him from that because it looked so well on her.

She looked down on both of them. Her eyes said more than words ever could. No one said anything for a while, letting the unpleasant silence surround them. It was so quiet that not even a fly could be heard, and soon, Vaughan became fed up of it, and he decided to start talking.

"Lady Winchester, it's a pleasure to meet you. I see just how annoyed you are, but, trust me, we had no other option but to come here. We barely escaped the clutches of death, and we need somewhere to stay at, and this is the only place we could find."

She didn't say anything while staring at them, her eyes bereft of emotion, and he frowned because she didn't say a single word to him and his sister. When she smiled at them, Vaughan's mouth hung open in shock. That reaction of hers was so abrupt, it made him wonder what just happened. Once he heard her speaking again, he woke up from his thoughts.

"I completely understand. Now, please, come in here. My friends and I would be very glad if you stayed with us for a while", she said, and, right after that, she started to walk towards the inside of the house, and they went after her.
