Being an man born in the fifties comes with it's own associated baggage. One element is a tendency to bottle up emotions. Trying to uncover what's been buried isn't fun. This poem examines some of that. If you read any of my work please comment. I promise I will do the same for any of your work I read.

The Hunt I Hope To Win

By: Geoffrey Marshall Regent

I been searching for, these, for Years,

Tried to hide them, from... all my Peers!

So, I stashed them behind my Fears;

Now, I can't seem to find my Tears?

I've held them less, than all my Gains!

But now, I need to share my Pains;

Those things, inspired by my Banes!

Yet, I'm so accustomed to my Feigns!

It's not like I wasn't ever Told;

That hiding them, could turn ‘em Cold!

An' I'm feeling, not the least bit Bold,

Just drawn-out, and a bit too Old!

So, here... I'm searching yet Again;

For the surest, place to Begin!

It is, a hunt I hope to Win;

In spite of all that's Gone and Been!

A fine poem of unexpressed feeling

The base meter meets you head on, very easy poem to follow - and worth another read. I love it when they make you look twice.

Thanks again... The easiest form of rhyme I think, but the syllable measure and flow are never really easy while keeping the storyline consistent... fun though
