Having done so many things in life that I regret, eventually they piled so high that I had no choice but to realize that growth was necessary.

Time worn blocks locked in place,

emotional blocks docked to chains

like locks from space.

Braced shackles crackle with fire,

laced over blood traced wrists

and ripped flesh fists

that once fought for shipwrecked trysts.

Bones bust and grind to dust

as he tries to readjust

to their disgust and distrust -

his soul combusts

and finally he adjusts.

Like a knife thrust, white hot flames

shame the untamed sight

with a reclaimed might

that aimed to retrain and retain right.

Poetry or rap? I read this using one of Eminem's rap songs in my head and it fit perfectly. Cool lyrical flow, plus the imagery is interesting too.

Hmm, this has an element similar to my latest poem; "The Hunt I Hope To Win" but it also has a sci-fi fantasy flavor or maybe a Chapter heading Poem or song... nice imagery, I also like the blend of the two rhyming patterns... I think I'm going to borrow that idea from you.

@A.K. Taylor: To be honest, it was meant for oral recitation, so I am not surprised the flow met you with something distinctive enough to give it auditory form. I am glad it resonated with you.

@GeoZart: I am thankful for the kind words, and would love to read this poem of yours. I am happy to see it was good enough to stimulate your own base with its format.
