A poem about two separated lovers.

If You Were Here With Me Tonight

My soul, my spark, my light,

If you were here with me tonight,

I would hold you close to the fire,

And see the sparks in your eyes climb higher.

But for now I'll look to the pitch black sky,

Content in your phantom embrace.

I'll talk to the moon's white light,

And send it to you with the ghost of my caress.

My fire, my lily, my love,

If you could come with me to see the doves,

I would put my hands in yours,

And see you smile as bright as the stars.

But for now I'll whisper to the soft wind,

And hope that you hear the sound from my lips.

I'll lay here under the willow tree,

And wait for your voice to lull me to sleep.

And if, when I wake, you're still gone,

I'll sing to myself your favorite song,

And know that somewhere far away,

You'll join my voice in a duet.

My soul, my spark, my light,

If you were here with me tonight,

I would never let you leave my side.
