Well, lots of people feel that their one and only lives could be expended to better use. I was just one of them. ...One of my more chilling poems.

Opaque Glass

Looking out the window,

.............watching the world go by;

seeing the world pass on

................................................without me.

...........Seeing, and knowing,

....................................................I sigh.

Fainter and fainter

.......................beats the heart of my soul;

........fainter and fainter beats hope.

Trapped for years in a straightjacket role;

.................my soul losing power to cope.

Looking for guidance

.................................to the world free-made,

.....and watching with sorrow

.......................while they close on my mind,

.......................while they cramp in my spirit;

.......................while with stark, leaden fingers

...................................they

..............................................pull

........................................................down

.....................................................................the

...........................................................................................shade.
