A Child's Eptaph

She heard someone say, "Love is wasted on the young.",

and thought how that assumes young had ever begun.

For her, old age started at the mere age of five.

Love had been distorted by truth made from lies.

The love got lost in silent hidden screams

which turned through the years into loud painful dreams.

The sharing of love (a goal society tells) became a heart,s empty space

filled only in darkened places by a frightening and familiar face.

Love was lost long before she ever was young,

but for her this epitaph "Childhood Lost" is sung!!

I really enjoyed your poem. It's sad the way childhood can be lost and I think you really captured that. I may suggest that you just give this a quick re-read, there were a couple of small typos. Aside from that, very thoughtful and very well done.

Yes, you definitely need to proof your work - especially considering how Booksie can re-formate things in its platform. Anyhoo, good, thought-provoking poem.
