halloween is creeping up on us,
the leaves have said their final goodbye to their branches,
autumn killing summer with a gentle kiss,
poisoned with copper and cedar,
shops stocking goods that fill my childish heart,
nostalgia rushing through my veins as i sing at the top of my lungs to songs i learnt years ago,
songs i wish i could hear for the first time all over again,
when i followed strangers into fields with beautiful views,
and spent lonesome nights scribbling on paper,
when i first began to write,
my mind dusting away it’s cobwebs,
opening the blinds and letting in the reviving sun,
renewal of a skill i now cherish,
and yet i hold onto my branches,
the ones that gave me what i have now,
is it time to let go like all of the other leaves?
only time will tell,
it is autumn now after all.
