after everything life has thrown at me,
the most unexpected thing was a gift,
in the form of long russet hair,
and glistening eyes that twinkle kindly in the october sunrise,
as we sit under our favourite tree,
with music i’ll be forever grateful for,
rain or shine we’ll be there,
watching the rest of the world go by,
in those few hours it’s only us,
we love these moments don’t we?
everything perfect in such an imperfect world,
autumn will always remind me of you,
passionate colours of amber and tuscan sun,
the faint sound of rain,
the pitter and patter of my heart,
i used to be afraid of the nights turning darker,
the shadows growing,
but with you even they look beautiful,
contortions of raven that now keep me company,
as i wait out the hours until i’m there again,
in my room,
or under our tree,
even the harsh breeze letting us be,
the gift that keeps on giving.
