A mystery person leaves a gift in the boy's tree house.

a gift from a stranger

boys built a tree house

in the woods far from

their cabin

one day found a gift

someone had left for them

in the tree house

two sticks of Juicy Fruit Gum

who would have done such a thing

they asked family and friends

no one knew

one day they visited the old

general store up in the hills

they asked the old mountain men

if they had an idea who it might be

the old men smoked their pipes

spat their tobacco juice into a can

and told a story about an old

hermit who lives high up the mountain

never visits anybody

wants no visitors stays by himself

sometimes comes to the general

store for a few supplies

is he dangerous the boys asked

could be but nobody rightly knows

said the old men

does he chew Juicy Fruit Gum

the boys asked

the store owner looked up and

said all he chews is tobacco

and Juicy Fruit Gum

the boys had their answer
