BEHIND THESE WALLS
If I could hide behind these four walls
And pretend it isn’t real
I could dull the pain, hide the hurt
And pretend that I don’t feel
If I could hide behind these four walls
And pretend it isn’t real
She could live the life imagined
And a few more moments steal
Pages ripped from her book
With memories yet unwritten
Replaced with laughter, love and
Dreams this side of heaven
I would give her every breath I take
Every moment I’ve been given
Every word that I’ve spoken
Just for her to go on living
If I could hide behind these four walls
And pretend it isn’t real
This would all just be a dream
In the midst of winter’s chill
My heart would be unbroken
My tears would then be dried
My little girl would hug me
And tell me she hadn’t died
If I could hide behind these four walls
And pretend it isn’t real

This is so sad and beautiful at the same time. Grief is a very hard emotion to deal with, and sometimes we need places with thick walls to take part of it's sting away. Thank you for writing and sharing this poem with everyone here.
