Rumbles sound

so loud and deep,

you feel the echoes

through your feet.

The sky is split

by silver forks,

tis not the night

for taking walks...

And yet there is no rain.

Electric streaks

across the sky,

the moon it sits,

you wonder why

the ground is dry

the air is sere -

will you ever get

away from here?

And yet there is no rain.

Roiling clouds

fill up your sight,

you've not the courage

to take flight.

Too far to run,

you’ll stay and hide,

give in to safety,

 curse your pride.

And still you look,

all hope is kindled

but too soon

that feeling’s dwindled

for though the storm

rages on high

the ground remains

completely dry.

Your throat is sore,

mouth full of dust,

nothing to drink

but still you must...

And yet there is no rain.

So well written hullabaloo22... and a piece that is very relatable after the dry lightning created fires that have hit where I live in Northern California.

Thanks so much, LE. The fires were terrible.

Serge Wlodarski

The drought we're having in New England is as bad as the drought I left in North Alabama. Bad stuff.
