'The fingertips of light could never touch me, I watch from safe distances.

I want to hoard beauty, encase it in myself, become other.

What does beauty become if it is all things?

If you embody beauty, become it, what do you become?
What is a mix of colours but a blackened mess?'

She thinks this while sitting at a table in a cafe, her food barely touched but stomach growling. The beady eyes of a waiter patrols her as he walks around serving other customers. Ebony takes a frustrated breath and begins eating to appease the waiter, but it doesn't stop his curiosity. She doesn't taste much, her mouth is dry so she takes a sip of water from her glass, the cup is shaking a little.

She takes another deep breath and looks to the window. People are walking down the street, the colours of their shirts and trousers blurring a little. A woman with black hair and a red coat stoops down to pick up a coin that has its head facing up at her, she smiles. Ebony gets sucked into deep thoughts, thoughts about coins and luck. She has come to the conclusion that she wonders too much, and that she should stop wondering. In her vision though, with the mixture of the rest of the world, the colours are turned up to their brightest settings.
