A poem dedicated to the women who gave birth to us and did whatever they could to see us happy and loved.

Eternal Love

by

L.F. Loza

She sighs with every step

She’ll shuffle her tired feet

She’ll work her exhausted hands

She’ll ignore the aches in her body

She’ll scoff at the creaks in her bones

She just wants to see you smile

All she wants

Is to see you happy

Never a complaint

Never a denial

Never a second guess

Never will she choose herself over you

She saw your birth

She agonized in pain

She loved you endlessly

She felt your sorrow

She worried herself for your well-being

She accepted you for your decisions

Never do I want her to leave

Never do I want her heart to break

Never do I want to see tears brimming

In those eyes that watched me grow

Nor do I want to know

That I made her heart fill with grief

I will keep you forever with me

Your smile

Your laugh

Your voice

Your hugs

Your love

Your later years are cruel

I’ve seen your eyes sparkle

With the tears of your struggles

Your mind is creating situations

Of those which are fabrications

Fogging up your senses and reason

I wish

You would stay with me

Forever

I wish

I could love you

Eternally

Alas

That’s not to be

Our time is limited

Alas

You will leave me one day

Our bond severed at the seam

Please

Remember my love for you

Please

Take my adoration for you

Into your heart

And into eternity

Wait for me

At the end

Wait for me

And I’ll be there

I’ll find you

And I’ll love you for the rest of time

I love you, Mom.
