Love Lost

I see dishes on the table.

I smell food cooking.

I feel hunger, but also love.

I see turkey at the table waiting to be eaten.

I hear laughter, ha ha ha!

I feel happiness, and love.

You see broken dishes.

You see broken families.

You see broken love.

You smell smoldering smoking embers.

You smell dusty crumpled buildings.

You feel like an abandoned house empty of love.

He hears the crunch of dirt under boots.

He hears the whisper of commands.

He feels a longing for home, for love.

He sees a broken building.

He hears the bark of a gun.

He feels the sting like a bee.

He sees a light, he sees his love.

They hear people talking.

They hear metal detectors beeping.

They see their family, and know family is love.
