Advice for our current conditions, from a friend

There had become a compulsory role,
Someone's shoes that needed to be filled.

If you step away far enough to see,
The person whose shoes you needed,
Never existed to fulfill their role,

And you, not needing to wear them,
Could bask in the glory of the moment.

And nearby, what hypnotized you,
An old pair of shoes that no longer served,
Were you really so ashamed? You were.
So ashamed that you needed perfection.

Look down now to see your current pair,
Ask yourself, 'Who am I at this moment'
Maybe your shoes need washing,
Maybe they are good,
Maybe they are solid, wearable, livable,
Or maybe they need fixing.
Whatever the case you rest assured,
The shoes you wear are at this moment,
Grounded in this reality,
They will carry you where you need to go

An enjoyable read, that certainly provokes a bit of thought.
